• Governor Quinn Signs Nation’s Strongest Regulations on Hydraulic Fracturing - Governor’s Key Legislative Priority Will Set National Standard for Environmental Protection While Unlocking Potential for Thousands of Jobs in Southern Illinois

  CHICAGO - Governor Pat Quinn today signed Senate Bill 1715 – the Hydraulic Fracturing Regulatory Act - into law. The new law enacts the nation’s strongest environmental protections for hydraulic fracturing and has the potential to create thousands of jobs in Southern Illinois. Passage of this legislation was one of Governor Quinn’s top priorities this year, and the Quinn Administration helped negotiate and draft the legislation.

• Governor Quinn Launches Flood Damage Assessments in Chicago - Teams Begin Documenting Damage in Cook, DuPage and Lake Counties; Data Will Support Request for Federal Assistance

  CHICAGO – Governor Pat Quinn today joined local, state and federal officials as critical flood damage assessments began in Chicago. Data collected during the assessments will be included in a request by Governor Quinn for federal assistance that, if approved, could provide grants and low-interest loans to people affected by flooding as well as low-interest loans for flood-impacted businesses.

• Governor Quinn Declares Four Additional Counties State Disaster Areas for Flooding - Clark, Crawford, Lawrence and Warren Counties Added to Disaster Declaration

  CHICAGO – Governor Pat Quinn today added Clark, Crawford, Lawrence and Warren counties to the state disaster declaration, bringing the number of counties with expanded access to state emergency resources to 48. The declarations also allow the state to formally pursue federal relief and support for impacted counties.
